Griffin Wind Farm
Pre-construction work is under way at the Griffin wind farm in Perthshire, which will have a capacity of 156MW, in advance of full construction work beginning in 2010. The construction cost for the whole wind farm is expected to be around £200m and it should be completed in 2012.
Once complete, Griffin will add to the 2,000MW of renewable generation capacity already operated by SSE and will contribute to our targets of owning and operating 4,000MW of renewable energy capacity in the UK and Ireland by the end of 2013 and reducing the carbon impact of our electricity generation by 50% by 2020 (from 2005/6 levels).
We will provide regular updates and more information on turbine deliveries and construction work so local residents are kept up-to-date with the project.
