Islay wind farm
SSE Renewables was granted exclusivity by the Crown Estate in February 2009 to develop two offshore wind farms on the west coast. The sites for development are Kintyre, which is located 3km off the Atlantic coast on Kintyre due west off Machrihanish and Islay, which is located 13km off the west coast of Islay. The Islay offshore wind farm is a proposal for a 690MW, 138 wind turbine development which would cover approximately 93 square kilometres. We aim to submit an application for statutory consent in 2012.
We would like to thank everyone who came to our public exhibition in the Bowmore Hall on Tuesday 3 August. The aim of the exhibition was to give local communities the opportunity to learn more about the proposal, ask any questions and feed into the project at an early stage of development.
