Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Limited (SHETL), a subsidiary of Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), has submitted planning applications for the converter stations associated with the proposed subsea transmission link between the Shetlands Isles and mainland Scotland.
This link may be necessary in order to accommodate proposed developments on Shetland, connecting Shetland customers to the National Grid for the first time, and follows detailed consultation with the local community. SHETL has published a Report on Consultations which gives an overview of the consultation undertaken.
